Repair of the Pirna city bridge
Wagert working platforms in use
Last year, Pirna saw an operation that was not an everyday occurrence. The repair of the arches and piers of the town bridge. This is a 295.45 m long bridge over the Elbe dating from 1875. The foundation stone was laid on 4 December 1872. The bridge connects the Westvorstadt district of Pirna, which is close to the city centre, with the Copitz district to the north.
Work on the Pirna town bridge entered its final phase in October 2016. In order to meet the completion deadline for the renovation work, several Wagert working platforms were used. These were loaded onto a ship and floated to the work sites.
All the Wagert equipment used was able to demonstrate its performance under extreme conditions. For example, the two telescopic working platforms T 220 DAK-L and T 282 DAK-S, which were used from the barge. With their attainable working heights and, above all, the enormous lateral reaches of up to 23 metres in a full 360-degree radius, every area of the bridge subfloors and piers could be optimally reached and rehabilitated.
Our SKT 230 K chain telescope was also able to hold its own very well on the Elbe meadow at the bridge head thanks to its extremely all-terrain chain drive, thus enabling work on the bridge to progress quickly and flexibly.
