FAQ

Read the frequently asked questions about our truck-mounted aerial work platforms here.

Your question is not listed? Do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are available for you during our business hours by telephone on 0921 789920 or by e-mail at info@wagert.de.

Do I need special training to operate lorry-mounted work platforms?

You do not need any special training to operate lorry-mounted work platforms, as the operator is legally responsible for the use and operation of the lorry-mounted platform. You will receive instruction in the operation of the equipment from us before commissioning or when you collect the lorry-mounted work platform you have hired. However, we recommend that you attend an appropriate IPAF training course at our training centre to ensure the safe use of the truck-mounted platform.

Do I need a special driving licence for the truck-mounted aerial work platforms?

Many of our truck-mounted platforms (up to a working height of 28m) can be driven with a class 3 or B driving licence. If you need more height (up to 34m) or lateral outreach, our 7.5t lorry-mounted platforms are the right choice. They can be driven with a 3 or C1 driving licence. From a working height of 35m, you need a category 2 or C driving licence. You will find the required driving licence category directly next to each truck-mounted platform.

However, if you do not have the correct driving licence category, you are free to book trained operating personnel for your truck-mounted platform at any time.

Can I transport loads in the workman basket of a lorry platform?

No. The workman basket of the lorry-mounted work platforms is only used to lift you and your tools to a height. Smaller materials that you can easily hold in your hands can of course be taken into the workman basket. For larger loads, such as sofas, safes, etc., we recommend a telescopic forklift.

Do I have to clean the lorry-mounted work platform before returning it?

Cleaning is included in the hire price for normal use of the lorry-mounted work platform. You should remove coarse soiling that requires intensive cleaning, such as paint, concrete, etc., yourself before returning the platform. Alternatively, the cleaning costs for stubborn dirt will be charged separately. It is best to enquire about your individual application in advance at one of our hire stations or by telephone on +49 921 789920.

Do I have to refuel the lorry-mounted work platform before returning it?

In principle, no. However, please note that diesel costs are not included in the rental price. You will receive a fully fuelled truck-mounted platform from us. You are free to return it with a full tank of diesel or to use our refuelling service. The costs for refuelling will be charged separately. Please note that it must always be ensured that the remaining tank is sufficient for loading.

Do I have to collect the hired lorry-mounted work platform?

Yes, all our truck-mounted aerial work platforms must be collected by you as the renter from one of our Wagert rental stations and returned at the end of the rental period. Please note the restrictions regarding the driving licence category. The required driving licence category is indicated with the respective rental equipment.

Is there a minimum hire period for lorry-mounted work platforms?

No. You are flexible when it comes to the hire period for our lorry-mounted work platforms. Whether 1 day or 1,000 days. There is only a minimum period of use for assignments with booked operating personnel. Please note that the applicable labour laws and driving and rest periods must be observed. We will be happy to advise you by telephone on +49 921 789920.

Where can I hire Wagert lorry-mounted work platforms?

Our network of hire stations stretches from the Upper Palatinate to Franconia and Thuringia all the way to Saxony. You can find all our hire stations here. Depending on the enquiry and type of job, we also hire out our work platforms, lifts, forklifts and other equipment nationwide. Please contact us for larger orders. You can reach us by telephone on +49 921 789920.

Can I book operating personnel for the lorry-mounted work platforms?

Yes, if you are unsure how to operate the machine or if you do not have the necessary training to use it safely on your construction site, you can book expert operating personnel from us. However, this service is subject to a minimum hire period. Please note: for the L 450, L 450 A, L 530, L 640 and L 700 lorry-mounted work platforms, the addition of trained operating personnel is mandatory. We will be happy to advise you by telephone on +49 921 789920.

Are the safety belts recommended for using the lorry-mounted work platform included in the rental price?

No. All our lorry-mounted work platforms are delivered to you without safety harnesses. However, PPE kits (PPE = personal protective equipment) can be purchased from us. For safety and hygiene reasons, it is unfortunately not possible to hire safety equipment.

Am I allowed to drive a lorry-mounted work platform on public roads?

Yes, all of our truck-mounted aerial work platforms are road-legal. However, please note the restrictions on the driving licence category.

Can I rent a lorry-mounted work platform from Wagert as a private individual?

Yes, you can also hire all our lorry-mounted platforms as a private individual at any time. However, please note the restrictions regarding the driving licence category. You can only hire a truck-mounted platform from us if you have a valid driving licence for the relevant category.

What is the largest lorry-mounted work platform I can hire?

Our largest lorry-mounted working platform, the L 700, reaches a working height of 70m. The machine is mounted on a MAN chassis.

Truck-mounted platforms for working at heights of up to 70 metres

Truck-mounted aerial work platforms, also known as cherry pickers, are the efficient combination of a work platform as height access technology and a lorry as a means of transport. The chassis is equipped with a rotating telescopic arm and a work basket. The extendable telescopic arm not only ensures safe working at heights of up to 70 metres, but also a lateral reach of up to 40 metres. This combination of height access, stability and transport means that the lorry-mounted platforms offer maximum flexibility. And they are ideal for working at different locations and at varying working heights. Another advantage: the lorry-mounted platforms can not only be collected by the customer, but can also be transported from site to site without the help of third parties, such as transport companies or us as the rental company. This saves time, costs and resources!

Hire a lorry-mounted work platform - your advantages:

  • For outdoor and partially indoor work
  • Efficient mix of aerial work platform and transport vehicle
  • Telescopic cage boom
  • Working height of up to 70 m
  • Lateral outreach of up to 40 m
  • Maximum stability thanks to extendable support arms
  • Rotating, freely movable work baskets
  • High mobility as a self-propelled unit
  • Can be hired with or without operating personnel (depending on height and driving licence category)
  • Can be operated from the workman basket

Depending on the model and basket load, very different lateral outreaches can also be realised: The range here extends from 10 to 40 metres.

Which driving licence categories are required to hire a truck-mounted work platform?

We generally offer our truck-mounted aerial work platforms up to a working height of 35 metres for self-collection from one of our rental stations - provided you have the necessary driving licence. Depending on the model, different licences are required to drive and use the work platforms. For example, our 3.5 tonne trucks can be driven at heights of up to 26 metres with a class B licence, while our 7.5 tonne work platforms require a class C1 licence. All platforms over 35 metres can only be hired with a class C driving licence or with personnel to operate them. The relevant details can be found with the respective hire equipment.
