Wagert in action – Fire at Franken power station in Gebersdorf
At the large power plant Franken in the Nuremberg district of Gebersdorf, a fire broke out in the boiler house of unit 1, which is about 80 metres high, at about 17:00 hrs on 08.02.2021. The height of the power plant was a particular challenge for the fire brigade, as there was no turntable ladder of a corresponding length available to reach the building from the outside.
At 6:15 pm, the Nuremberg fire brigade contacted our Bayreuth dispatch and requested our truck-mounted working platform with a working height of 70 metres. A driver was quickly organised. 15 minutes later, the working platform professional was already on his way to Nuremberg with a police escort.
On site, he brought the so-called height rescuers - specially trained firefighters who can work at great heights - upstairs so that they could open the façade from the outside and check for pockets of embers. At around 10:00 pm, the operation was completed without any problems and the driver was able to make his way back.
Thanks to all the staff involved for organising and carrying out the operation at such short notice. Even in emergencies - Wagert brings you SAFELY UP.
