What is a stump grinder?

With a stump grinder, also known as a tree stump grinder or rootstock grinder, you can save yourself the hassle of digging up tree stumps and rootstocks from lawns, gardens or building land. With their vertically rotating cutter blade, the machines quickly and effortlessly remove tree stumps and roots - both above and up to half a metre below the ground. The rootstock is milled off layer by layer using horizontal swivelling movements and mechanically chopped into small chips. The compact stump grinders score points with their comparatively low weight and are even suitable for use in confined areas. Their compactness as well as the precise positioning of the milling wheel and the controllable swivelling movements ensure that the milling work can be carried out without causing major damage to the surrounding area - a great advantage, especially for afforestation work or in green areas with limited soil load.

Good to know: The woodchip produced can be reused as mulch in gardens and parks after the milling work. This saves you having to remove and dispose of the wood.

Have stumps and roots removed by a professional - stump grinders from Wagert

Whether in forests, on new building land, in parks, on sports fields or cemeteries - when trees are felled, stumps and a deeply branched root system are left behind. These can not only hinder construction work or new planting, but are also trip hazards. It is therefore often necessary to remove them. Instead of reaching for a spade or directly using a heavy excavator, it is advisable to leave this work to a stump grinder. Our high-quality stump grinders are perfect for the efficient removal of stumps and roots. With plenty of horsepower and an all-terrain tracked chassis, they do a good job even where excavators and tractors reach their limits.

Our rental machines impress with

  • compact dimensions of 0.95 metres wide (retracted)
  • a low dead weight of 1.8 tonnes
  • a large working area under and above the subgrade
  • a swivel range of almost 1.80 metres

In comparison: Our stump grinder weighs just 1.8 tonnes, a small excavator 9 tonnes and a tractor 14 tonnes.

  • in gardening and landscaping
  • in forestry / for gentle reforestation
  • in agriculture
  • by local authorities in public spaces and parks
  • in cemeteries
  • on building plots

Good to know: We only hire out our stump grinder with professional operating personnel. Our competent employee not only carries out the milling work, but also takes care of transporting the machine to and from the site.
